Los Lobos
Los Lobos is a small Spanish hamlet situated between the towns of Cuevas del Almanzora and San Juan de Los Terreros. Los Lobos is a historic mining village and while the mines are long gone there are stunning mountain trails that take you up and across the mountains separating Los Lobos with the Mediterrenean Sea.
Where is Los Lobos?
Los Lobos is a hamlet in the municipality of Cuevas del Almanzora in the province of Almería, in the autonomous community of Andalucía, Spain.
Surrounded by the Sierra Almagrera the hamlet of Los Lobos enjoys a huge amount of history. Trails lead up and around the mountain range showing of old mineshafts, buildings, settlements and machinary. The land surrounding Los Lobos is extremely furtile due to its proximity to the rambla making agricultor the main source of income for many of the locals.
The easiest way to get to Los Lobos is traveling on the A-332 from Cuevas del Almanzora towards San Juan de los Terreros or viceversa. The village is well signposted in either direction.

In Los Lobos we’ll find a couple of bars, a shop with some basic items, a medical center with pharmacy open once a week, and a stunning restaurant sitting on the hilltop with beautiful panoramic views. We’ll also find just outside of Los Lobos a Repsol petrol station and another bar.
For your daily amenities your closest town will be Cuevas del Almanzora which is just a 10 minute drive away. Here you’ll find all your necesities including a large Mercadona supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants, large medical center, banks, pharmacies etc. In the opposite direction is the sea side village of San Juan de los Terreros which is also just a 10 minute drive away.

what day is the market held in Los Lobos?
While there isn’t a market per say in Los Lobos you do have the option of heading to Cuevas del Almanzora every Tuesday and Thursday morning as well as the market at San Juan de los Terreros every Saturday morning.

Fiesta de la Convivencia de Los Lobos
It takes place on the day of San José (19th March), in honor of the patron saint of the hamlet of Los Lobos. It is a festive day, in which they gather to cook and taste a giant paella, accompanied by an orchestra.
Fiestas of Los Lobos
These fiestas take place the first weekend of August, in honor of the Virgen del Carmen. It begins on Friday afternoon with a multitude of activities and children’s games. On Saturday morning, there is a petanque contest, remote-controlled car races and the indoor football championship, among others, and in the afternoon there is a pilgrimage with the image of San José (patron saint of the town) and the Virgen del Carmen from Los Lobos to El Molino del Tarahal. Once there an outdoor mass is celebrated. Around two in the morning a lamb is raffled and, at five, they make “migas” (a traditional dish) for the people who continue with the party.
On Sunday routes are carried out on quad bikes and country motorcycles and, at noon, a paella is cooked to regain strength since afterwards it is obligatory to participate in the corrida de cintas and the motorcycle race. At 8 o’clock in the afternoon the procession takes place, along with the handover of trophies and around one o’clock in the morning we have the great fireworks display.
