Where is Carboneras?
Carboneras is a municipality in the province of Almería, in the autonomous community of Andalucía, Spain.
One of the most thriving areas of Cabo de Gata is the town of Carboneras. Just 67 kilometers from Almería city and with a strangely beautiful rural environment, the town has gone from being a discreet fishing village to a first-rate tourist center with all the ingredients that you can ask for in a Mediterranean coastal town: good gastronomy, wide beaches and an incomparable natural setting.
It would be a pity to visit only the municipality in search of sun and sand. Beyond this powerful claim, there are many places to see in Carboneras, such as the imposing viewpoint of the Mesa Roldán Lighthouse, the San Andrés castle or the wonderful landscapes around the town.
Carboneras is easily accessed from the A-7/E-15 motorway from either Almeria or Murcia. Take the exit number 735 and follow the N-341 to Carboneras. If you’re staying in the Mojácar area and would prefer a more scenic route there’s a stunning coastal road following the AL-5107 that passes through some secludid villages and even passes a couple of beautiful view points. This road is very popular with cyclists so be careful.
