BÉDAR
Bédar is a village of Almería that sits on the edge of the Sierra de los Filabres mountain range. The village is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the area and it’s easy to see why. The white-washed village is nestled 400m above sea level with many properties boasting stunning distant views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Where is Bédar?
Bédar is a municipality in the province of Almería, in the autonomous community of Andalucía, Spain.
The village is located to the east of the province, in the last foothills of the Sierra de los Filabres, belonging to the region of Los Filabres, within a landscape that preserves its traditional fertile plain and the surrounding farmhouses of Moorish origin.
The area offers an image of virginity that fits with the simplicity and friendliness of its people and with the village, whose urban structure is inherited from the Arab era.
The easiest way to get to Bédar is traveling on the A7/E15 motorway from either Almeria or Murcia and taking the exit 709. From here you simply follow the signs to Bédar for about 15 minutes and you’ll find yourself at the start of the village with a large parking area to your right.

Bédar holds every Wednesday a street market situated in the public parking area which is located on your right as soon as you enter the village. There is plenty of parking available in neighbouring streets and the market can the be reached on foot.
when do the local "fiestas" take place in Bédar?
Bédar has it’s annual Patron Fiesta generally between the 22nd – 25th September where they celebrate the “Virgen de la Cabeza”.
Patron Festival
The most important fiesta is that of the patron of the village and in this case it’s the Virgen de la Cabeza.
Moors and Christians
In other towns this is a separate fiesta to the patron and usually takes place at the beginning of September however due to the proximity to the main fiesta Bédar moved this fiesta to the same week as their main fiesta.
